Ashe Faith Project

Our Mission
To secure and provide direct services and human development resources as well as outreach initiatives on behalf of under-served target populations in the greater Bridgeport community.

The Nia Alliance currently serves the Greater Bridgeport community and vicinity under the following program:

About The Ashe Faith Project:
  • The Ashe Faith Project aims to reduce substance abuse and HIV/AIDS in communities of color by strengthening the partnerships between local community organizations and faith groups, utilizing a wealth of knowledge, experience and passion to maximize local synergies, promote program collaboration, and encourage service integration.
  • Ashe provides referrals to substance abuse treatment, mental health support, primary health care, HIV counseling and testing, and other social services in our partner network.
  • Staffing: Three of the Nia Alliance members serve as subcontractors on this program.

The SAMHSA funding cycle for the Ashe Faith Project was from 1 March 2010 to 28 February 2012. During this two (2) year fiscal cycle, the Ashe Faith Project had the following impacts within the Greater Bridgeport area and surrounding communities: 

  • Engaged 21, 564 people in HIV/AIDS, substance abuse and trauma related services, including all the group level interventions and outreach efforts
  • 1,134 people received HIV testing and counseling
  • 43 email campaigns were sent, which includes FaithBlast campaigns and newsletters 

Although the fiscal contract with SAMHSA has concluded, the Ashe Faith Project has made a commitment to provide the same level of services according to the mission and goals established while under contract and funding.



About The Mt. Aery Development Corporation:
The Mount Aery Development Corporation (MADC) is a not for profit located in the hollow section of Bridgeport, CT. Established in 1995, MADC has provided services to low income families through after school and summer programs, HIV testing and education and foster care services. MADC continues to serve as a strong beacon of hope to this community by providing leadership and charitable support for many community efforts.
